My Education

From 2014-2016, I studied at the International School of Geneva La Châtaigneraie for my International Baccalaureate. I graduated with 31 points. I was in many shows while I was at school, including in year 12, when I played the role of Hermia in a modernised version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. (I still have the email confirming my part as I really enjoyed myself in that show and loved the whole experience.)

From 2016-2019, I studied at Royal Holloway University of London in Egham. I loved every second of my time there.

The university itself is incredible. There's this gorgeous building called Founder's which is the university's main attraction as it's so beautiful. Everyone says it always looks like Hogwarts. (Fun fact: you can see Founder's in Avengers: Age of Ultron.)

The campus itself is so lovely as there are loads of grassy areas and little forests. It's a small university, so you know quite a lot of people, which I really liked. There's always lots of stuff going on: there are plenty of events – my favourite was the petting zoo that they would have each term, lots of fun nights out, and the societies are always doing something. I thought it was brilliant!

I studied Drama & Creative Writing at Royal Holloway, and I am really grateful that I got to study something that I love. The seminar leaders were so down-to-earth, funny, and lovely, and it felt like they were so understanding. They didn't put any unnecessary pressure on you, and they were always so willing to help you with anything. I have so many fond memories of my lessons. I really enjoyed myself.

While I was at Royal Holloway I was also part of a couple of societies: the ballroom & latin dancesport society, and the French society. I joined the ballroom & latin dancesport society because I grew up watching Strictly Come Dancing. (Unfortunately, there's no ballroom & latin dancing in Switzerland. 😢) I had a great time being a part of that society, but by third year, I wanted to try something else. So I joined the French society.

I had a lot of fun being a part of both of the clubs and I made some good friends too.

I graduated from Royal Holloway in June 2019 with a 2:1 and I was thrilled. My next goal in my life was to complete my postgraduate degree.

From 2019-2020, I studied at Kingston University London, which, as you probably know by now, is in England. It was a difficult choice for me to make as I had an unconditional offer from a different university for a course in screenwriting. I wasn't as confident in my abilities in screenwriting as I am in my abilities to write prose, so I ended up turning down the offer and studying Publishing & Creative Writing instead.

Again, I am very grateful for having the opportunity to study something I love. Publishing & Creative Writing has now set me on my current path in life, and I'm looking forward to where it takes me.

I had some brilliant seminar leaders at Kingston University, and they taught me so many things that I know about publishing and writing. I hope I can make them proud.

I didn't get to complete my whole year at Kingston University due to the pandemic. By March 2020, I was at home in Switzerland, and I finished my degree virtually. I graduated with Merit in September last year. I am lucky because, in the grand scheme of things, my studies didn't suffer as much as a lot of other people who are still studying online. It can be hard not having any interactions in person, and to anyone who is struggling with online learning, I am cheering you on from the sidelines. It is tough, but you can do it!

Finally, I have just completed an online course in proofreading & editing, which I will talk about in one of my blog posts. I had a wonderful tutor who helped me to understand my lessons and assignments, and who was incredibly supportive. I'm excited because I believe that this will have a positive impact on my future work. And hopefully, it will improve my chances of getting a job.
